The operation of our equipment is simple. We believe that your office is busy enough to not have to worry about maintaining another piece of equipment. All that is required is to properly maintain your vacuum lines to prevent blockage and bacterial accumulations through routine vacuum line cleaning. Line cleaners should be free of chlorinating compounds such as bleach that may dissolve mercury from the amalgam particles in the system.
Once installed, our equipment is out of sight and out of mind. It continues to capture amalgam from your vacuum line effluent for a year under normal operation. Yearly, the collecting container must be replaced or the upper surge tank may fill with solids and degrade the removal efficiency of the separator. It is critical that this collector be replaced to ensure continued ISO certification, maintain your warranty, and to prove compliance with state environmental agencies that your amalgam waste is properly managed.
Rebec LLC is a permitted Moderate Risk Waste facility authorized to manage dental amalgam waste. Rebec LLC is the only amalgam separator manufacturer in North America with a permitted waste handling facility. Our permit grants us the ability to treat and store dental amalgam waste from Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG) prior to recycle or disposal. In addition, our facility can accept amalgam sludge from regulated generators such as hospitals, government installations, and colleges for consolidation prior to reclamation.
To ensure your environmental compliance we select final treatment and disposal facilities based on numerous criteria to include their financial strength, history of compliance, site security, insurance, and closure and post-closure funding. While your waste is in transit to our facility and while it is at our facility Rebec LLC maintains $2 million in pollution liability insurance. We provide equipment to certify your compliance with environmental regulations and will ensure proper care of your waste cradle-to-grave.

Some states have passed legislation to exempt pollution control equipment from sales and use tax. Two states offer a tax credit for the purchase of water pollution control devices. Amalgam separators are effective water pollution control devices and may qualify for these exemptions. Your CPA or tax professional can assist you in determining the applicability of these tax regulations.
The following states offer tax credits for the purchase and installation of pollution control devices:
:
For a $50 application fee the state of Oregon allows for a 35% tax credit.
:
Offers a 10% pollution control tax credit if the equipment is mandated.
Since all sewer utilities have stringent mercury discharge standards this equipment is likely required to meet these discharge requirements.
The following states offer sales and use tax exemptions for the purchase and installation of pollution control equipment. Each state interprets differently what qualifies for this exemption and it would be prudent to discuss these tax incentives with a tax professional:
