Rebec Solutions on Radio Broadcast "Meet the Planet"
Rebec Solutions and dental mercury issues to be highlighted on national syndicated radio show “Meet the Planet” July 16, 2006

Rebec LLC participated in an informative interview with host Jenny Griffin from the national environmental talk radio show “Meet the Planet” WWW.meettheplanet.org for scheduled program broadcast on July 16, 2006. Meet the Planet produces a weekly one hour environmental awareness radio broadcast that can be heard on terrestrial radio stations in the Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas. Meet the Planet hopes to improve awareness and compassion for our planet and provide information on new developments and ways to protect, conserve, and make choices based on understanding the issues in an entertainment format.
Michael Jeffers, Compliance Manager, of Rebec Solutions was interviewed regarding the concerns for dental mercury amalgam waste and the solutions to these dental mercury discharges to the sewer. Michael presented the need for dentists to address the issue of environmental concern regarding their impact from placing and removing dental amalgam fillings that are composed of nearly 50% mercury. Dentists, in combination, are the single largest contributor of mercury to our sewer treatment plants. The mercury generated from dentists ends up in the bio-solids at these wastewater treatment plants and is subsequently applied to farm fields as fertilizer, incinerated, or placed in landfills. Studies have shown that dentists generate over 30 tons of mercury waste every year in the United States and a scientifically proven simple and inexpensive solution to this problem is the installation of amalgam separators certified to remove better than 95% of this amalgam discharge to the sewer.
